Ordering
Mosaic book prices, extra pages, US shipping, and the review step before print.
You review, order, and pay in the Mosaic app. Prices are in US dollars. Shipping is added on top of the book price.
Ordering is available only when the server flag ORDERS_ENABLED is exactly true. A template also has to be orderable. Otherwise checkout stops with “Ordering opens when the reprint is in hand”. A book with no priced print product cannot be ordered (“This book can’t be ordered yet.”).
Book prices
Chronicle, Vista, and Atoll use a base price at 32 pages, then $1.25 for each page above 32. At 80 pages that formula is:
| Template | Price at 32 pages | Price at 80 pages | Each page above 32 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chronicle | $89 | $149 | $1.25 |
| Vista | $120 | $180 | $1.25 |
| Atoll | $132 | $192 | $1.25 |
80 pages is $89 + (48 × $1.25) = $149 for Chronicle, $120 + $60 = $180 for Vista, and $132 + $60 = $192 for Atoll. The catalog minimum for these three is 80 pages, so 80 pages is the shortest book that catalog offers. The catalog maximum is 200 pages.
Terra, the 6×9 softcover, is $29 at 24 pages, then $0.50 for each page above 24. Its catalog minimum is 20 pages. At 20, 22, or 24 pages the price stays $29, because the formula charges the base price at or below the anchor.
TODO: Checkout prices whatever page count the book has. A separate check that refuses a Henan book under 80 pages was not found in the checkout session code. The 80-page floor is the catalog limit in printProducts.ts.
Shipping
Shipping is added on top of the book price. The charge depends on the service and how many copies you order. The first copy is one price. Each copy after the first adds the extra-copy price. An order can include 1 to 99 copies. These options do not include a delivery window.
| Book | Service | First copy | Each extra copy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chronicle, Vista, Atoll, Pavilion | Standard | $12.00 | $5.00 |
| Chronicle, Vista, Atoll, Pavilion | Priority Mail | $22.00 | $8.00 |
| Terra | Standard | $6.99 | $2.50 |
| Terra | Express | $18.00 | $0.00 |
Terra Express stays $18.00 for the order. Extra Terra copies do not add to Express. From 6 copies, Terra Standard is more than $18.00, so Express is the lower price.
Where Mosaic ships
Mosaic ships to the United States. Checkout rejects any other country with “Mosaic only ships to the United States”.
Before it prints
A paid order starts at Review, then moves through Printing, Shipped, and Delivered. While it is in review, the order says: “We’re checking every page before it goes to print.” There is no arrival estimate on that note.
